A trailer for a new Michael Schumacher documentary has been released by Netflix, 30 years after the German champion made his Formula One debut.
The film, titled Schumacher, will be released on September 15th and will include never-before-seen home films as well as interviews with family and friends.
Since a near-fatal brain injury while skiing in the French Alps in 2013, Schumacher has been out of the spotlight.
“He still shows me how strong he is every day,” wife Corrina said in the trailer.
“I just felt that he is somebody special.
“I think that he is simply very strong mentally. Extremely strong.”
Mick Schumacher, Michael’s son and current F1 driver for Haas, appears in the trailer, as does Michael’s daughter Gina, Ralf Schumacher, Michael’s brother and fellow F1 driver, and four-time F1 winner Sebastian Vettel.
In a statement made in 2019, the Schumacher family stated that they were doing “everything humanly possible” to aid the F1 champion’s recovery, including stem cell operations.
“You can be sure that he is in the very best of hands and that we are doing everything humanly possible to help him,” the statement said.
“Please understand if we are following Michael’s wishes and keeping such a sensitive subject as health, as it has always been, in privacy.”
